R-LOOP - The Alternative to Induction Loops and Photocells
The R-Loop is a high-precision millimetre-wave radar sensor designed to serve as a "virtual" alternative to traditional ground-cut induction loops.
Utilising 60 GHz FMCW (Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave) technology, it detects the presence and movement of vehicles and pedestrians at barriers and gates without requiring any excavation or road surface modifications.
Through the use of sophisticated cross-traffic suppression and motion direction recognition, the R-LOOP guarantees targeted passage while eliminating "ghost" activations from irrelevant movement.
Furthermore, the system’s ability to differentiate between pedestrians and vehicles allows for highly specific access logic, ensuring that barriers cycle only for authorized vehicle traffic while maintaining a safe environment for people on foot.
Key Features
Millimetre-Wave Radar: Operates at a high frequency (60–64 GHz), allowing it to detect even stationary objects with extreme precision, unlike standard motion-only sensors.
Target Differentiation: Advanced algorithms distinguish between vehicles and pedestrians, allowing for specific logic (e.g., opening only for cars while ignoring foot traffic).
Mobile App Configuration: The device features a Bluetooth BLE 5.0 interface, enabling installers to define detection zones and adjust sensitivity via a smartphone app instead of mechanical switches.
Flexible Detection Zones: Supports a wide detection area (up to 8m x 8m) that can be shaped to suppress cross-traffic or ignore specific stationary obstacles.
Safety Compliance: Certified to EN 12453 Protection Level D, making it suitable for use as a safety device to prevent barriers from closing on people or vehicles.
Simplified Installation: Because it is surface-mounted (on a barrier housing or post), it eliminates the need for noisy, dusty, and expensive roadwork associated with cutting loops into asphalt.
Weather & Environmental Resilience: Unlike optical or ultrasonic sensors, the R-Loop remains highly reliable in heavy rain, snow, fog, or extreme temperatures ($-30\text{°C}$ to $+55\text{°C}$).Lower Total Cost of Ownership: It prevents the common maintenance issues of traditional loops, such as cable breakage caused by ground movement or heavy vehicle wear.
Smart Traffic Management: Its ability to detect direction and ignore "ghost" movements ensures that barriers only cycle when a legitimate entry or exit is intended, reducing wear on the gate motor.
